Staff members who work at the Stirling Smith

The Board of Trustees

A Smith Trustee giving an address

The Stirling Smith is managed by a Board of Trustees, who meet regularly to discuss the running of the art gallery and museum, decide upon forthcoming exhibitions and the upkeep of the collections, and confer about a wide range of issues affecting the Smith and its future.

The Board of Trustees is composed of a number of individuals from different professional backgrounds including people with experience in local authority work, respected businesspersons, noted academic scholars, and members with voluntary and fundraising expertise.  This collective experience is vital to their work as Trustees, and their knowledge and understanding brings a varied array of skills and capabilities to the Board.

The Trustees meet on chosen dates throughout the year at the Stirling Smith lecture theatre, and a permanent record of all of their decisions is kept.  The work they do shapes the way forward for the Smith, and working together with the staff and volunteers, their decisions are the foundation upon which the art gallery and museum is based.
