An exhibition of paintings at the Stirling Smith

Exhibitions at the Stirling Smith

The Stirling Smith is proud to create and host a wide variety of different exhibitions every year, showcasing many different disciplines including fine art, social history, cultural history and other subjects of local and national interest.  In recent years we have presented exhibitions focusing on subjects ranging from the history of golf to the Titanic.  Others have dealt with the lives of illustrious figures of Scottish history such as George Buchanan and Sir William Wallace, and celebrated the work of artists from all over the world.  There are always new and exciting things to see in our galleries.

Forthcoming Events

In addition to the exhibitions taking place here, the Stirling Smith is proud to host a wide variety of events right the way throughout the year.  These are often arranged by the Friends of the Smith organisation, sometimes in conjunction with other groups such as Forth Environment Link.  Events take place in our lecture theatre, our meeting room, our biodiversity garden, or even in other venues in the local area.  Thanks to the Friends of the Smith, the many events taking place have included auctions and goods sales, and a very popular plant sale which takes place every May.  New events are being organised at all times of the year.

The Friends of the Smith Lectures

As well as organising many different events throughout the year, one especially popular attraction run by the Friends of the Smith is their well-attended lecture series.  All are welcome to attend these public talks, which take place in the Smith's lecture theatre, and an array of lively and interesting speakers are scheduled throughout the year both to inform and to entertain.

A schedule of the forthcoming lectures organised by the Friends of the Smith can be found here.
